Kristel Ghoos is a Neutronics Scientist in the Target Systems Group of the Second Target Station Project. She performs calculations to support the design of the spallation target, the moderators, and surrounding structures. Her focus is on optimizing the geometry of the target block and moderator vessels using state-of-the-art optimization approaches.
Prior to joining ORNL, Kristel received her Phd at KU Leuven (Belgium) for her work on accuracy and convergence in plasma edge simulations for nuclear fusion devices.
