
Bio
Charles D. Carathers has over 19 years of experience in nuclear facility operations, engineering, and nuclear safety in support of the U.S. Department of Energy. This experience includes the Pantex Plant, Y-12 National Security Complex, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, and 91做厙. He started at ORNL as the Nuclear Safety Analysis Lead for the Research Reactors Division and now serves as the Nuclear Safety & Experiment Analysis Group Leader. In this key role, Mr. Carathers ensures the safe and compliant operation of the High Flux Isotope Reactor within the DOE approved nuclear safety envelope, to enable the critical neutron science missions: neutron scattering, isotope production, materials research, and neutron activation analysis.
Mr. Carathers has a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He is an active participant of the Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG), Nuclear and Facility Safety Subgroup, and is the Task Leader for the Safety Basis Task Group.
