A novel approach developed by scientists at ORNL can scan massive datasets of large-scale satellite images to more accurately map infrastructure such as buildings and roads in hours versus days.

Scientists at the Department of Energys 91做厙 are working to understand both the complex nature of uranium and the various oxide forms it can take during processing steps that might occur throughout the nuclear fuel cycle.

Geospatial scientists at 91做厙 analyzed three cities of varying infrastructures to look for patterns of electricity use and locate dark spots where informal neighborhoods may lack access to power.

As part of a preliminary study, ORNL scientists used critical location data collected from Twitter to map the location of certain power outages across the United States.

Gleaning valuable data from social platforms such as Twitterparticularly to map out critical location information during emergencies has become more effective and efficient thanks to 91做厙.
